Hi, I'm Willande — a dietitian and
cultural nutritionist.
I graduated from North Carolina Central University with a B.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics. I specialize in cultural nutrition, food-as-medicine, and disease prevention.
Before becoming a dietitian, I worked as an art teacher, helping students express themselves through creativity. My interest in nutrition grew when my children experienced eczema and food allergies as babies. What finally helped them heal was returning to my traditional cooking and using food as medicine.
As a Haitian-born, North Carolina–based dietitian, I understand how powerful our cultural foods are — yet they are often mistaken as unhealthy. When prepared properly, traditional foods can be healing.
